Notes on Paz: the light after the party and post-national mask is a 20-minute performance that builds on the writings of Mexican writer Octavio Paz, using performative action to think through how identities are formed. This performance expands on previous ones in which Rafa Esparza has used masking as a strategy to play with distance-modulating in relationship to an audience and as it relates to Paz’s writing on Mexican identity.
